Diogenesister. I see what I can do to find an alternate link.
When the site changed names for a while some links got messed up.
some people had a penchant for posting their topics directly into the "best of topics" area.
it seemed more than a little arrogant to me that some imagined their every utterance was immediately a greatest hit but maybe people weren't clear on what that area was intended for .... from now on you won't be able to start new topics there.
if anyone wants to submit a topic to be added there (perhaps an index to a curated list of other topics by a user or on a certain subject / theme) then just start one in "suggestions" and pm me and, if it is suitable, then i'll move it into there.. existing topics posted there recently have been moved to more appropriate areas..
Thank you Simon

what a load of crap this stupid belief was.
i'll give you a couple of examples.
i was the sign language interpreter for our congregation and there was about 15-20 deaf who regularly showed up.
LongHairGal: I guess that explains why in certain countries around the world, women are made to cover up from head to toe! Even their hair, face and ankles can’t show.
The problem with that is that it actually makes many men even more prone to sexual thoughts. Ask a man who goes to nude beaches how fast the novelty wears off. After a while you don't notice it anymore.
But it isn't the hormones that drive a man's libido as much as his brain. What he thinks is a much greater trigger for him. Showing it all, pretty much takes away the mystery. Cover it all up and all they think about is what is under all those clothes.
Vidot: We manage. Takes years of practice and self-discipline, though.
And some never manage it. All we need is a few pills and problems are solved. You poor guys.

I was reading one of the posts on the first page. - the sarcastic one where women can't lead because of hormones.
Give me a break. JWs and many others really believe this crap.
We had a brother in the congregation that got an erection every time he got on the platform. We had a small podium so we could all see it. Hard to miss. How distracted did you think his hormones were making him? it certainly distracted the audience. The elders finally got a wider podium for him to hide behind.
Some science:
In 2011, a research team based out of Ohio State University conducted a study to keep track of how often a sample of 283 college students thought about sex, food, and sleep throughout a week. The test subjects were given clickers to press every time each of these things came to mind. On average, the men reported thinking about sex 19 times a day, while the women reported thinking about it 10 times a day. https://www.menshealth.com/sex-women/a28483383/how-often-think-about-sex/
So if he sleeps just 5 hours a night, then he probably thinks about sex at least once every hour. Some hours more then others.
No wonder women are commanded to dress "modestly". The men can't handle a bit of skin. And even if he tries not to look, once he has seen it that is all he can think about.
One study said men get about 11 erections a day, even while they are sleeping. We know they get them before they are born.
We can at least take meds to help with pain and cramps. Men have it hard. Wouldn't want to be one with that thing and the thoughts that come with it constantly distracting me.
deaf aotearoa flooded with complaints about jehovah's witness churchkashka tunstalllast updated 15:22, october 6 2015deaf aotearoa has asked the jehovah's witness church to respond to claims of a deaf information database.new zealand's deaf community is fed up with unsolicited house calls, claiming the jehovah's witness church is targeting deaf households.deaf aotearoa has received multiple complaints from around the country and says church members visited certain homes because they were aware a deaf person lived there.
the organisation released a statement on monday, saying it was looking into the possibility the church holds a database listing the details of members of the deaf community.jehovah witness spokesman rod spinks said there was no such database and deaf people were not being targeted.the deaf aotearoa statement was posted on the group's facebook page, and received a flood of comments from frustrated people.one woman said a group of jehovah's witnesses had come to her house and asked "for the deaf person who lives here.
" she said they refused to explain how they had her details and didn't visit her neighbours.another said church members had turned up at her work and asked for her by name.hamilton man royce flynn said he had been visited six times over the last nine months, despite repeatedly saying he was uninterested in the house calls.he said the church members were always able to sign and also brought deaf people along, which lead him to believe he was being singled out.flynn said contacted local police, who told him it was a privacy issue and referred him on to the office of the privacy commissioner.he said he had been been in contact with local labour member of parliament sue moroney.deaf aotearoa acting chief executive jill dean said complaints about the church were a recurring issue.
They definitely have a list in Canada. Montreal had two deaf groups French and English. I believe one is now a congregation.
anybody remember hearing this?.

Well you could say that the WTS gives JWs a good education in their own beliefs.
However... a real education will give you a good education about a topic you want to study AND topics that are about the wider world (that don't exclude all information they don't want you to know).
Sadly, far too many people get sucked into believing they are actually studying the Bible when what they are really doing is studying WT beliefs which are heavily biased and dare I say full of "fake truth".
My JW neighbor truly believes that she studied the Bible. She knows the WTS gets it wrong but since she thinks she studied the Bible she "knows" she is right. Very sad.
we have all watched some of the documentaries about the church of scientology hiring detectives to stalk and harass their former members,( their "apostates").
i have heard of individual cases of rabid jw elders stalking ex-jws, and of course, one would expect some enforcement of corporate copyright infringement on anti-jw websites.. what were the most outrageous jw "stalking" or investigation stories you remember?.
tonight's 60 minutes into ebay stalking a middle-aged couple who writes a newsletter reminded me a lot of the menlo park congregation watchtower "takeover", closure, and stalking of local elders to mind.

I quickly found similar sites. The WTS thought they could control the spread of their deceit. That just isn't possible anymore. Once it is on the 'net they can forget about controlling it.

You would think but Quotes showed them changing their beliefs so many times it was ridiculous. We were more than happy to spread their beliefs for them.
when a witness talks about someone who has "graduated" from gilead, they always make it sound like such an accomplishment as if they graduated from harvard or somethin...lol.
i know it's called the watchtower bible school of gilead and is located at the watchtower educational center in patterson, ny (sounds impressive, uh?)..
it used to be known as the watchtower bible college of gilead in south lansing, ny.. does this school have any accreditation that you know of or is it just glorified classroom training for jw "missionaries"?
Accrediting agencies issue accreditations. Accrediting agencies are organizations (made up of educational professionals) that:
The U.S. Department of Education explains that agencies determine accreditation standards based on whether graduates can gain admission to other reputable institutions or achieve credentials for professional practice.
During the school certification process, SEVP only recognizes schools as accredited if the accrediting agency is recognized by the Department of Education.
----------------------------
The issue here is what are they supposed to be accredited for. Certainly not a college or university. Not even a public school. The curriculum is too narrow.
When I went to college and university not only was a required to study my chosen program but was required to study things that were not part of the program.
A certain amount of program courses were required although there was room for some choice. However there were additional courses that had to be taken and passed, English, Physical Education, Sociology, Religion, Ethics etc.
This was to help give the student a more well rounded understanding of their personal environment and the wider community.
The WTS does not meet these standards.
They may qualify for a very specific reason, to allow foreign "missionaries" to come to their program but that is not the same as a normal college or university program. Not by a long shot. My college program was a 3-year professional program in Social Service. My university program was 3-year program in Applied Social Sciences.
There is NO comparison. NONE

They took a poster here, Quotes, (who ran a website with nothing but WT quotes) to court to get him to take the site down. They forced him to take it down and never post it again because the quotes made them look bad. (See: https://www.chick.com/battle-cry/article?id=ex-jw-sued-for-watchtower-quotes)
JWFacts has a version of it on their website (https://jwfacts.com/watchtower/quotes/quotes.php)
Many people picked up the ball when the site was taken down and published various versions of the Quotes.
Can't keep a good quote down it seems.

I learned far more in one semester (3 months) at college than I learned in 22 years as a JW.
Almost anyone who actually did go to college or university or even a trade school will tell you the same.
